Next, simply click on the drop-down list to find the item you want to track. Be sure your GPS is showing valid coordinates and then click Log Item.

The first time you use Marine Debris Tracker, you will need to choose a username and password. This will allow you to view and download your data from the website. While usernames show up on the homepage with town locations for the last 5 tracked items submitted, the exact GPS coordinates are not available associated with any username. The public data available for viewing and download on the website is anonymous, and you need your username and password to see and download your data as a separate file (coming soon). If you want to keep it private, keep your username and password private only to you.
Once you have registered once, your username and password is all you need to submit all your tracked data each tracking session (and can be stored in the phone so you don’t have to enter it each time you submit).
